Crafts: the “Market Intelligence” system confirms the attractiveness of Moroccan products internationally (ministry)

The first results of the “Market Intelligence” system are extremely encouraging, showing a notoriety exceeding 85% for the “Morocco Handmade” label in the main import markets, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the efforts deployed in terms of promotion, the ministry indicates in a press release.

In terms of global trends, jewelry and jewelry items are the most cited and searched products by Internet users in major markets such as the United States, Spain, the United Kingdom, Australia, Italy and Germany. Closely followed, at different levels, are rugs, pottery and decorative accessories.

When it comes to Moroccan handmade products, Moroccan Zellije stands out as the most cited and popular product, whether by the professional public or the general public.

The “Market Intelligence” system has enabled an in-depth analysis of the opinions and comments of customers who have purchased Moroccan handicraft products on the world’s largest e-commerce platforms. The results of this first analysis, covering more than 2,500 verified purchases, reveal an overall satisfaction rate of 89%.

Intrinsic characteristics, such as “heritage and artistic value” and design, obtain the highest percentages of positive mentions, reaching 100% and 96% respectively. They are closely followed by delivery times and quality of raw materials (92%), colors (91%), product quality (87%), and price (84%).

At the same time, the tools implemented make it possible to monitor and analyze the impact of communication actions carried out on digital channels. Between April 1 and June 30, 2023, they reached 3 million people in Morocco, more than 1.5 million people in Europe and around 1 million people in North America.

In this regard, the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, quoted in the press release, stressed that this system is an essential tool that we use to monitor the evolution of demand and global trends.

And to add: “Our objective is to allow artisans to continually improve their products, to strengthen the attractiveness of our crafts, better meet the expectations of international customers and increase our exports. We have ensured that it is inclusive, accessible to all artisans, whether individuals or companies.”
