Crafts: Training cycle for manufacturers of traditional rifles and saddles

by times news cr

This training cycle was provided to 66 craftsmen at the national level, including 36 craftsmen of traditional rifles and 30 craftsmen of traditional saddles, as part of the preparation of production units for the rights to use the collective certification mark, indicates the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy in a press release.

The aim is to strengthen the skills of artisans, increase their awareness of maintaining product quality in accordance with the requirements of the collective certification mark use system, comply with specifications and organize craft practice in light of changing technical, social and environmental standards.

The certification and labeling of these two professions is of crucial importance because it allows these products to be promoted and guarantees their traceability and preservation as Moroccan cultural heritage.

Indeed, the manufacture of traditional rifles and saddles constitutes an essential element of Moroccan cultural heritage, rooted and transmitted through generations, but also the basis of the success of Moroccan equestrian art “Fantasia”, registered as a UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage. Through this art, Moroccans celebrate in the Moussems the joy and attachment to their rituals and customs.

These trainings were prepared, organized and coordinated between the ministry and the Mohammed VI Foundation for Solidarity, through the training and qualification center in crafts in Marrakech, and this within the framework of the implementation of the provisions of the partnership concluded for the strengthening and development of the skills of artisans.
