Man Dies Weeks After Crash Involving Blood Transportation Vehicle in South Manchester

A man in his 50s has died nearly a month after a collision on Princess Road in south Manchester involving the Jaguar he was driving and a vehicle transporting blood supplies. The incident, which occurred on September 10, prompted a lengthy investigation and a renewed appeal for information from the public.
The Collision and Initial Response
The crash took place in the early afternoon near the junction of Princess Road and Mauldeth Road West, a busy intersection on the border of Withington and Whalley Range. A Jaguar XF Luxe and a Kia Sportage – identified as a blood transportation vehicle – were involved in the collision. Emergency services responded to the scene, and an investigation was immediately launched.
Delayed Fatality and Police Statement
Despite initial treatment, the driver of the Jaguar sustained critical injuries. Sadly, he succumbed to those injuries on Tuesday, October 7, 27 days after the initial incident. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed the death in a statement released Saturday, October 11.
“The man, who was driving the Jaguar, was in his 50s,” police stated.

GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is actively seeking witnesses and any information related to the crash. Investigators are particularly interested in reviewing any CCTV footage, including dashcam recordings and mobile phone footage, captured in the area leading up to the collision.
