The Minister, who chaired the 11th Ordinary Meeting of CRASTE-LF, stressed the importance of the role played by this center in training more than 500 specialists from African countries in areas such as remote sensing, geographic information systems, meteorology, global climate study, satellite communication and the global navigation system, thus constituting an effective model of intra-African and multilateral cooperation.

This meeting will be a good opportunity to take stock of the training provided by this center for the benefit of African students specialized in space technologies, a mission that will expand the community of experts in these disciplines, in accordance with the enlightened Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, focused on South-South cooperation, he noted.

During this meeting, representatives of African member states welcomed the activities of this structure and its efforts to provide appropriate solutions to the challenges facing the continent, through the enlargement of its member countries.

It was also devoted to examining the progress of CRASTE-LF’s activities, since the tenth session of its board of directors, held on June 30, 2022 in Rabat, the action plan for the period 2024-2025, as well as the resources allocated to this Center to enable it to carry out its missions.

During this session, a partnership agreement was signed between CRASTE-LF and the Senegalese Space Agency.

This session of the CRASTE-LF board of directors, under the UN, was attended by representatives of the African member states of the center, as well as those under the observer members, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Expatriates, the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation, and the General Directorate of Meteorology and the Mohammedia School of Engineers.

CRASTE-LF, whose headquarters have been based in Morocco since its creation in 1998, has the following missions: capacity building in the field of Space Technologies for the benefit of French-speaking African countries, consolidation of cooperation between African countries as well as promotion of multilateral cooperation, and the collection and dissemination of information related to space technologies.
