HoYoverseauthors of Genshin Impactare well known for fighting against leakerswho are dedicated to giving unpublished details about upcoming updates or characters that will be coming to the famous Asian RPG.
Axios reported that Cognosphere, a company from the Chinese division that works in the West, filed an order in a California court, where it requires Twitter, the famous social network, relevant information regarding the identities of three ‘leakers‘. The company wants to know who are the people behind the accounts: merlin_impact, GenshInWorld y XWides
Cognosphere’s request also mentions that the social network should remove posts that mention confidential HoYoverse material. Leaks, although they can be quite conspicuous due to the secrets behind them, are actually a nuisance for large companies.
And although Twitter became the place to release sensitive information, other platforms such as Discord have been used by famous leakers, even MiHoyo managed to identify them. The creators of Genshin Impact want to set a precedent, similar to what happened with The Pokémon Company when it won a lawsuit $150,000 against a group of people who leaked franchise information after early access to a strategy guide.

‘Merlo‘, also known as ‘merlin_impact’, has been the only one in pronounce regarding the actions that HoYoverse is carrying out, especially since several of his followers wrote to him concerned about having problems with the law.
