The Swiss bank Credit Suisse has no outstanding obligations to Bank Zenit; the credit institution does not have the right to file a bankruptcy petition for Credit Suisse AG, Credit Suisse said in a statement on Fedresurs, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.

On January 18, Zenit Bank published a message on Fedresurs about its intention to apply to the arbitration court for bankruptcy of Credit Suisse.

“In connection with message No. 18322059 dated January 18, 2024, published by PJSC Bank Zenit in the Unified Federal Register of Information on the Facts of the Activities of Legal Entities, Credit Suisse AG reports the absence of unfulfilled obligations to PJSC Bank Zenit, confirmed by a judicial ruling that has entered into legal force act, in connection with which Bank Zenit PJSC does not have the right to file a bankruptcy petition for Credit Suisse AG,” the message states.

In July 2023, Zenit Bank sent an application to the Moscow Arbitration Court to declare the Swiss bank Credit Suisse AG bankrupt, but in December the court rejected Zenit’s application.

According to materials from the file of arbitration cases, in October 2021, Zenit Bank joined an agreement to provide a syndicated loan (a loan provided by two or more banks on uniform terms in accordance with a loan agreement signed by all parties) between the borrower Integrain SA and Credit agents Suisse AG, London Branch. According to the agreement, Zenit transferred $20 million.

On February 24, 2023, the United States and Great Britain introduced blocking sanctions against Zenit Bank, after which the credit agent Credit Suisse sent a notification to the bank that funds from Integrain SA had been received, but would not be paid to Zenit due to its inclusion to the sanctions lists. As Zenit pointed out, the failure to transfer funds to it (evasion of transfer) by Credit Suisse violates the legal rights of the bank and causes it losses.
