On the afternoon of April 19, the Carabinieri of the Cremona station subjected a 53-year-old man to the precautionary measure of the approach ban issued by the Court of Cremona to protect his ex-wife, who had reported repeated mistreatment. The precautionary measure was issued following the facts recently reported to the Carabinieri of Cremona, following a long list of mistreatment and harassment to which the woman was subjected.
The woman said she married the man and lived with him for almost thirty years. At the beginning everything was fine, but, by mid-2023, the relationship had deteriorated and the two had separated and things between them had decidedly worsened because the man had begun to adopt threatening, abusive and aggressive attitudes.
In fact, the man had continuously sent messages to his ex-wife, offending her and threatening her with death, also giving rise to stakeouts under the house and stalking of the woman in order to control her movements. The verbal violence continued for months and, on one occasion, he had torn off the ring that he had given her and that his ex-wife was wearing on her finger with pincers, while on another occasion he had thrown one cent coins at her telling her that she was worthless.
But the situation has worsened since the beginning of April, when the man met the woman in the city center and heavily insulted her in the presence of several people. And the following days he suddenly approached her behind her, scaring her and threatening her with death.
Taking into account that such behavior had become increasingly frequent, he decided to present the complaint to the Carabinieri of Cremona to tell what was happening, denouncing the state of exasperation and disturbance due to the fearful situation he had to experience on a daily basis. The military then started investigations, finding confirmation of what the victim reported.
Taking into account the growing seriousness and repetitiveness of the facts and the danger due to the man’s inability to contain his actions, the judicial authority issued the provision to protect the woman’s physical safety, requiring the man not to approach the places frequented by the victim, also prohibiting him from communicating with her by any means. The measure was immediately notified to the man by the Carabinieri of Cremona.
