Cricket tournament; Media Lions won

Dubai: The Media Lions won the cricket match for the Jacob’s Welty Hospitality Trophy for journalists in the UAE, led by the Indian Media Association. The Media Lions beat the Media Tigers by six wickets at the Victoria Cricket Academy Ground in Sharjah.


The Media Lions team was led by Shihab Abdul Karim and the Media Tigers by Jomi Alexander. Media Lions’ Sujith Sundaresan, who scored 35 runs and took three wickets, was the man of the match. Jomi Alexander and Saneesh Nambiar won individual trophies. The champions were presented with a trophy and cash award by Phoenix, Managing Director, Jacob’s Wealthy Hospitality. Suresh Punnasseril and Chacko Ulakadan presented other prizes.

Victoria Cricket Academy Director KK Najeeb introduced the players. Thansi Hashir, Vanitha Vinod, Jasitha Sanjith and Shanthini Menon accompanied her. Raju Mathew, Elvis Chumar, M.Sc. C. A. Nasser, Bhaskar Raj and Kabir Edavanna presented gifts to the participants of the championship. The match was co-sponsored by Victoria Cricket Academy and Pegasis Cricket Club. Cricket expert Manoj Pillai was the match referee. Lulu Group, Ustad Hotel, Global Media Hub, Cosmos Sports Ad Speak Events and SPSA Cricket Academy. Sports Convenor Roy Raphael Coordinators Raju Mathew, Shinoj Shamsuddin and Sujith Sundaresan provided leadership.
