Cricket umpire stabbed to death for giving wrong decision

Yesterday (Sunday) a cricket match was held between two local teams in the area under Southwar police station in Mahishilanda village in Odisha’s Cuttack city.

Accordingly, 2 cricket teams from Berhampur and Shankarpur regions participated in the tournament. Lucky Rawat (22 years old) from Mahishilanda village is acting as the match referee.

Berhampur team is batting first. In this, a player is given out on the first ball. Generally, the players accept the decision given by the umpire.

But during this match, the conflict started by claiming that he had given the wrong result. Due to the umpire’s decision, both teams were involved in a dispute. As the conflict ends, Jagga, a sportsman of the Berhampur team, starts attacking Lucky with a bat.

Smruti Ranjan Rawat alias Monu, who was watching the match from the spectator row, stormed into the cricket pitch and stabbed Lucky with a knife. He is seriously injured in this.

He was immediately rescued by the people of the area and taken to treatment. However, the doctors said that he died on the way.

In this attack, Jagga, who was involved, was caught by the villagers and handed over to the police. Police are investigating to nab Ranjan Rawat, another absconder.
