/ The police in Tinley Park, a suburb of Chicago, announced that a man shot and killed his wife and three daughters early Monday morning.

The police believe that the motive for the crime was a family dispute, and the perpetrator has been arrested pending investigation.

The man and the victims are believed to be of Palestinian origin, according to the American website “Alhurra”.

ABC News reported that the shooting took place inside a house in the Tinley Park suburb, south of Chicago.

When police arrived at the scene, officers found four women dead inside the home, all with gunshot wounds. The man was found in the home unharmed.

Police said the man is in custody, and investigators told ABC7 the suspected shooter is the victims’ husband and father.

The Cook County Coroner identified the victims as: Majida Qasim, 53, Halima Qasim, 25, Zahia Qasim, 25, and Hanan Qasim, 24.

Police remained at the scene investigating Sunday afternoon, and the weapon used in the crime was confiscated.

The news was devastating for neighbors and those who knew the family. “My daughter knew them,” said neighbor Charlotte Vaitkus. “She went to school with the eldest son, and she hired the twin sisters. She always talked about how smart they were all, and that they had ambitious goals in life.”

Police have not identified the suspect, and said they will release more details about the crime on Monday.

CBS quoted Vaitkos as saying that the family living in the house consists of a husband, wife, three daughters and two sons.

She added that her daughter was “in shock”, and that the twin girls were “a pharmacist and a doctor”, stressing that she “did not know that there were any problems at all in the house”.

It is unclear what led to the shooting, according to CBS.
