The election of Morocco, in the person of the advisor to the Permanent Mission of Morocco in Vienna, Mohamed Amine Boukhris, took place on the occasion of the closing of the work of the Commission on Narcotics (CND) and the CCPCJ.

The Moroccan presidency of the 32nd session of the CCPCJ ensured in particular the serenity of the debates, the constructive dialogue and the positive interaction, as well between the member States of the Commission, the observers, as the NGOs.

The Moroccan presidency thus took advantage of this session to highlight Moroccan resolution A/77/L.89 on the promotion of interreligious and intercultural dialogue and tolerance in the fight against hate speech, adopted by consensus on July 25, during the examination of item 9 of the agenda, relating to the examination of the follow-up to the 14th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.

Morocco took this opportunity to congratulate the United Arab Emirates, which will organize the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, while highlighting the role of Morocco, as an actor of peace and a staunch defender of tolerance in the collective fight against hate speech, as well as the imperative to ensure the synergy, dynamics and complementarity between the CND and the CCPCJ when examining issues related to drug trafficking and transnational organized crime.

Morocco had assumed the presidency of the Plenary Committee responsible for negotiating resolutions, in its capacity as 1st Vice-President of the 31st session of the CCPCJ, in May 2022, and the Presidency of the resumed session (CCPCJ-CND) and the 32nd session of the CCPCJ in 2023.

The Presidency of the 33rd session of the CCPCJ will be held by the Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic in Vienna, Ivo Sramek, who was elected, by acclamation, also on this occasion, under the presidency of Morocco.
