After a series of secret pre-trial investigation actions of a non-public nature, s. m. August 8 three members of this organized criminal group were arrested, two of whom are residents of Marijampolė county and one is a resident of Kaunas city.
Members of the aforementioned group organized and carried out thefts of expensive agricultural machinery in Denmark and the Netherlands.
The equipment was transported by trucks to the Republic of Lithuania, where body identification numbers were forged and the equipment was sold.
Members of the group used professional counter-intelligence tools when committing criminal acts. In total, during the investigation, 5 units of forklifts stolen in Denmark and Holland were detained: Shaffer; Giant G2500HD and AVANT TECNO OY, which were possibly stolen by members of the detained group.
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted regarding the incident in accordance with Article 25 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. 4 d and Art. 178 on the 3rd For all three detained persons, the court appointed the strictest preventive measure – arrest. The investigation is controlled and led by the prosecutor of the Marijampolė District Prosecutor’s Office of the Kaunas District Prosecutor’s Office.
During the investigation, there was close cooperation with the Special Attaché of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Police Department (in the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the European Police Office) and the Lithuanian national member of Eurojust, who ensured smooth cooperation with foreign partners.
