He was speaking at the WTO World Trade Conference in Geneva, Switzerland this week. Archbishop Fortunatus Nwachukwu, who serves as the diocesan representative for offices and multinational organizations, made the request.

Archbishop Nwachukwu said there was an urgent need for an integrated approach to promoting the common good in our common home to address many of the problems facing the world, including the crises created by the Kovit-19 epidemic, the war in Ukraine, and climate change.

Emphasizing the need for the World Trade Organization to promote the importance of dialogue between nations on trade issues, Archbishop Nwachukwu said the most underdeveloped countries need free and open trade.

Archbishop Nwachukwu expressed concern that the war in Ukraine had led to a rise in the prices of food and raw materials in poorer countries, and that the war had created new tensions over the social crisis inherent in food shortages.
