Demands from transport operators, such as real-time video surveillance services, new operating models, preventive maintenance of railway infrastructures, or autonomous driving, are not feasible with the technologies currently in use, some of which, such as the GSM-R standard, are very close to obsolescence.
The Moy Sest project aims to eliminate going further with a solution that, on top of 5G radio technology, develops critical train-ground communication services based on the latest generation standards specifically designed under the umbrella of the Future Railway Mobile Communication System, FRMCS, the standardized and interoperable system promoted by the International Union of Railways to digitize rail transport.

lines of work

Within this experimental development project, lines of work are established that will address the functional suitability of 5G technology for the support of critical mission services, the guarantee of quality of service through artificial intelligence algorithms, supervision mechanisms in real time of the system’s cybersecurity framework, the provision of specific and interoperable services through FRMCS, or the analysis and evaluation of deployment models in combination of private and public 5G network architectures.
The project is expected to be developed over 36 months, incorporating a final stage of validation of the results obtained in the form of a field pilot in a controlled environment, deploying a demonstrator system with conclusive capacity.
Given the high degree of standardization and interoperability of the elements on which it is going to be developed, the project aspires to an international diffusion with the creation of a model that can be replicated in railway environments in other countries.

of Financiac

Moy Sest is one of the initiatives selected in the 2022 call for Unico Sectorial 5G, the program to promote sectoral digitization 5G tractor projects financed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and the European Union – Next Generation EU within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, and has an expected execution budget of 7.2 million euros.
