With the announcement of a live-action adaptation of a manganime as famous and popular as Saint Seiya, many fans feared the worst, especially after the resounding failure that “Dragon Ball Evolution” supposed in its day. And with the arrival of the first trailers, the worst predictions seemed to come true: the film gave off a fanmade aroma on all four sides, far from being a production up to the original work. Now, with the premiere of the film in countries like Mexico, Argentina, Brazil or Japan -in Spain we will have to wait until May 26-, the first criticisms and reactions to Caballeros del Zodiaco have begun to appear. And they couldn’t be more illustrative.

And it is that its premiere in cinemas in these countries could not have been more discreet, as for example in Japan, where a work as popular as Saint Seiya has not passed eighth position in collection. All this with relatively well-known Hollywood stars such as Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings) or Famke Janssen (X-Men). And the first reactions that come from LATAM could not be more forceful: “It does not respect practically anything of the original, being a 100% western material, in the worst of its meanings”, he commented from SPD Noticias.

“The ugly visual effects, the pompous and mediocre dialogues, the performances below what is tolerable and the total idea that we have only seen a prologue make the two hours of this feature film a scam for viewers,” they point out from Leer Cine . For their part, from IGN Latin America they conclude that “if you are a fan who grew up watching the Knights of the Zodiac, you will hate this movie and you will think that you could make better use of your time.”
