The Knesset presidency approved the proposal of the Speaker of the Knesset, MK Miki Levy, to appoint Adv. Dan Marzouk as the new Knesset Secretary.

However, coalition officials were surprised by the choice of attorney Dan Marzouk, who chose to retire from the Knesset to the private market, after not being appointed as the Knesset Spokesman in 2020.

According to them, since Marzouk retired from the Knesset, he has engaged in legal advice bordering on lobbying and offered himself as a professional adviser to the Knesset, the government and on issues of legislation and regulation, and may therefore be in conflict of interest.
