Azerbaijan could invest in Croatian renewable energy projects.

As Day.Az reports, a source in the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Croatia told Trend about this.

“We need to share our experience and explore possible future cooperation between our companies. We also see potential for Azerbaijan to become an investor in some Croatian renewable energy projects,” the source said.

The source believes that there is a great opportunity for cooperation in the geothermal sector, as Azerbaijan has significant know-how regarding this technology.

Regarding the possibility of Croatia joining the Azerbaijan-Europe green energy corridor, the source noted that there have been no negotiations regarding the mentioned project, but Croatia supports all opportunities that will contribute to the decarbonization of the energy sector in the EU.

It should be noted that on December 17, 2022, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary signed a strategic partnership agreement, which provides for the construction of an energy bridge from the Caucasus region to Europe.

As part of the agreement reached, the construction of a Black Sea Energy undersea electric cable with a capacity of 1,000 MW and a length of 1,195 kilometers is expected. The cable will be designed to supply green electricity produced in Azerbaijan through Georgia and the Black Sea to Romania for onward transport to Hungary and the rest of Europe. This will allow for the supply of up to four gigawatts of green energy.
