It has only been a few days since the euro has been dominating what is happening at bank counters, shops and bars in Croatia, the youngest EU member. But since the turn of the year, Europe’s single currency in the Adriatic state has not only triggered routine-sounding coffers, but also harsh customer protests, crises and special meetings. The reason: Especially in the catering trade, but also in retail and with service providers, some use the currency conversion for strong price increases.
