crores of eggs export from namakkal to qatar fifa world cup

by time news

Five crore eggs were shipped from Namakkal this month to prepare meals for sports fans during the World Cup football. Out of which two crore eggs were shipped in the last two days alone. Also, the delivery of eggs will continue till January 2023. This has become a relief for the chicken farm owners who were in crisis in Tamilnadu.

In 2007-2008, up to 15 crore eggs were exported from Namakkal in Tamil Nadu to 11 countries including Gulf countries like Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar, as well as Africa and Afghanistan. But suddenly, as the shelf life of chicken eggs was reduced from six months to three months, the export decreased and due to this, chicken farm owners were in crisis.

Apart from this, with the confirmation of bird flu in various states of India, including Kerala, countries withdrew from buying eggs from India under the insistence of European countries. Taking advantage of the outbreak of bird flu in India and the World Cup, Turkey doubled the price of chicken eggs.

Due to this, countries including Qatar have to pay a high price for egg imports and are once again dependent on India. Also, officials of Namakkal Egg Production and Sales Association demanded that central and state governments should issue bird flu-free certificates to the producers so as not to create a bird flu crisis in egg export.
