Chennai: On the day of Atsya Tritiya, crowds of people flocked to jewelery shops across Tamil Nadu to buy gold. In some stores customers were allowed in token mode to control the crowd.

The public has always had an interest in gold. In addition, they are more interested in buying jewelry gold. Also, people have the hope that if they buy gold on the day of Atsya Tritiya, their wealth will increase.

In this situation, the day before yesterday, the public raided jewelry stores to buy gold. As a result, crowds flocked to jewelery shops in Thiyagaraya Nagar, Mylapore and Purasaivakkam in Chennai.

Similarly, jewelery shops in major cities including Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai and Tirunelveli were overcrowded.

Jewelery shops in Chennai were opened early yesterday morning in honor of Atsya Tritiya. To impress customers, gold jewelery was offered at a discount of Rs 60 to Rs 100 per gram, and in some shops a discount on labor and damage to gold jewelery.

As the crowd at a jewelery shop on Usman Road in Thiyagaraya Nagar increased, tokens were issued and people were allowed inside the shop.

In this regard, a jewelry store manager in Thiyagarayanagar said, ” We have started the plan to buy jewelry in the last 10 days before the Atsya Tritiya. We also announced various offers to attract customers. Jewelry stores have not been open on Atsya Tritiya Day for the past 2 years as the curfew was enforced due to corona infection.

With no corona infection this year, more and more people are flocking to the store to buy jewelry. As a result, business has grown by 25 to 30 percent. ”

Similarly, Jayanthilal Salani, president of the Chennai Gold and Diamond Merchants’ Association, said there was an increase in the sale of gold jewelery in jewelery shops across Tamil Nadu in the wake of Atsya Tritiya.

Rs 360 less per pound

Meanwhile, in Chennai, jewelery gold fell by Rs 45 to Rs 4,796 per gram and by Rs 360 to Rs 38,368 per pound. 24 carat pure gold sold for Rs 41,560 per pound. A gram of silver sold for Rs. 67.20 and a kilo of silver for Rs. 67,200.
