South Africa: The coronation ceremony of the new king of the tribes in South Africa was held with great fanfare.

The coronation ceremony of the new king of the Nguni-speaking tribes in South Africa was held with great fanfare. Thousands of Zulu warriors and civilians participated in this traditional ceremony.

48-year-old Mizusulu Ka Zwelithini was crowned king of the Zulu kingdom. As per custom, a large number of animals were sacrificed and the festival started with great fanfare.

This Zulu kingdom has the honor of repelling the British forces during the Isandalwana War of 1879. The people danced and cheered to welcome their new king.

From earlier in the morning, men and women dressed in colorful traditional clothing began gathering outside the marble palace in the hills of Nongoma, a small town in the southeastern province of KwaZulu-Natal, the Zulu heartland.

The newly-enthroned king appeared before the crowd in black feather robes, holding a spear and a shield, before thousands of people watched as Misuzulu Zulu was crowned as the new Zulu king.

Addressing well-wishers from the throne, the new monarch wore a traditional leopard skin and animal claw necklace, saying the Zulu nation was beginning a new chapter. “I pledge to work to unite the Zulu nation,” he said.
