At Mineirão, William, Matheus Henrique, Marlon, Dinenno, and Barreal converted their penalties for Cruzeiro. On Boca’s side, Marcos Rojo, Lema, Blanco, and Figal successfully converted their penalties, while Merentiel missed the decisive penalty.

In regulation time, Cruzeiro beat Boca Juniors 2 to 1. Matheus Henrique opened the scoring for the home team eight minutes into the game, and Walace extended the lead at the 20-minute mark. Right before the end of the first half, Boca reduced the deficit with a goal from Milton Giménez.
Since Boca had won the first leg 1-0, the aggregate score was 2-2, leading to a penalty shootout. At Mineirão, the xeneizes played almost the entire match with one less player. In the first seconds of the game, Advíncula received a straight red for a harsh foul on Lucas Romero.
Now, Cruzeiro will face Libertad in the quarter-finals of the competition. The Paraguayan team defeated Sportivo Ameliano in the penalty shootout in the round of 16. In the first leg, the teams drew 1-1, and in the return leg, they finished 0-0. In the penalty shootout, Libertad won 4-3.
