CSK Acquire Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards in SRH Trade

Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad have finalized a four-player trade ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League season, with Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards moving to the Chennai franchise in exchange for Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis.

New Additions to the Chennai Squad

Liam Livingstone joins Chennai Super Kings at a contract fee of INR 6 crore, according to Hindustan Times. The England all-rounder was originally acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 13 crore at the 2025 mini-auction. During the 2026 season, Livingstone played only two matches for the Hyderabad franchise, scoring 15 runs. Livingstone, who was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s title-winning squad in 2025, brings a wealth of experience with 8,595 runs in 370 T20 games and 171 wickets. CSK will represent his fifth franchise, following stints with Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and SRH.

Australian seam-bowling all-rounder Jack Edwards also moves to Chennai at his existing fee of INR 3 crore. Edwards, who has been a key player for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League and has toured India with the Australia A side, did not feature in a match for SRH during the 2026 season.

Strategic Acquisitions for Sunrisers Hyderabad

In exchange, Sunrisers Hyderabad have secured left-arm fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed at his existing fee of INR 4.8 crore. Khaleel previously represented the Hyderabad franchise from 2018 to 2021. During his 2025 campaign with Chennai, he claimed 15 wickets in 14 matches, though his 2026 season was limited to five appearances before a right quadriceps injury ended his participation.

Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis completes the trade, joining Hyderabad at his existing fee of INR 2 crore. Ellis, who recently played for Sunrisers Leeds in The Hundred, brings significant experience in death-overs bowling.
