DIG/ Assala Gabon presented its Excellence Award for the 2022-2023 school year to 44 students from Gamba and Port-Gentil, as well as the localities of Azendjé, Matsouka, Moukouna and Yeno.

Initiated during the 2017-2018 school year, the Assala Excellence Award is a way for the oil company to reaffirm its support for the communities around its sites and offices by maintaining a taste for success and academic performance among younger.

The winners got the best averages of their establishments, as well as the best averages of their levels of study.

All winners of this edition of the prize received a certificate and school supplies corresponding to their school level: backpacks, notebooks, pens, spelling and grammar books and other learning materials.

And, among these winners, 4 second and first year students were invited to do a one-month immersion course within the company in Gamba and Port-Gentil.

“The Assala Excellence Award is one of our initiatives for communities around our production sites, in the education sector”, indicated the Managing Director of Assala Gabon SA, Brice Morlot.

During the year 2022, Assala Gabon, in partnership with the Gabonese State, financed the renovation of the public primary schools of Yeno, Moukouna and Matsouka, as well as the construction of several classrooms and a sports platform at the Lycée de Mandji.

The company also organizes annual awareness sessions for Gamba students on the importance of environmental protection.

“Establishing win-win partnerships is one of Assala’s values. We consider it important and crucial to encourage academic excellence and support local development.

The Assala Excellence Award is therefore essential for our contribution to the social and economic development of the communities around our production sites.

This contribution involves, among other things, our 470 direct jobs and 2,900 indirect jobs, the purchases we make from large and small companies, the logistics transport we carry out for communities in isolated localities and the taxes and dividends that contribute to national and local economies, underlined Mr. Morlot.
