The permission of the Russian parliament is not required to send a contingent of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to Kazakhstan. This was stated by Leonid Kalashnikov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots.

According to him, there is a charter of the Organization, special forces of the CSTO, which are in constant readiness, are undergoing exercises, including for such situations, writes RIA Novosti.

Let us remind you that the CSTO made a decision to send peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan. This was announced by the current chairman of the organization, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan. He noted that such a decision was made in connection with the appeal of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and in view of the threat to national security and the sovereignty of the Republic, caused, among other things, by outside interference. The CSTO peacekeeping forces will be deployed for a limited period of time in order to stabilize and normalize the situation.

Let us remind you that the mass protests in Kazakhstan related to the rise in prices for liquefied gas have escalated into riots and clashes with the security forces. At least eight police officers and two military personnel were killed. President Tokayev dismissed the government and declared a state of emergency.

Alma-Ata suffered enormous damage. According to the commandant’s office, there are many looters in the city who “endanger the lives and health of peaceful citizens, hindering the work of doctors” and “damaging business.” At the same time, the authorities noted the coordination of the forces that are now rampaging in Almaty. “The high level of organization of the bandits testifies to serious training abroad,” the message says.
