In an act of bravery and community collaboration, the residents of Santiago de Cuba managed to stop a thief in the middle of the street and kept him secured until the police arrived.
The incident took place on Escario Street, where the suspect, after snatching a cell phone from a woman near Plaza de Marte, was captured by neighbors.
The citizens tied him to the railing of a house, ensuring that he would not escape until the authorities arrived and handcuffed him to the applause of those present.

Meanwhile, in another theft case, this time in the city of Holguín, authorities are seeking the public’s cooperation to identify a man suspected of stealing a bicycle from a parking lot at the “Vladímir Ilich Lenin” General University Hospital.
The bicycle belongs to a doctor at the hospital, and the theft was captured by security cameras at the parking lot managed by VictoriaPlus SRL, which then shared the images on social media in an effort to capture the culprit.
The image of the suspect has been widely disseminated, in the hope that someone may recognize him and provide information leading to his capture.
The company has expressed its frustration and displeasure at the act, emphasizing the importance of the bicycle for the affected doctor and warning that theft is a crime punishable by law.
These events highlight not only the security challenges faced by citizens in their localities, but also solidarity and community initiative in response to crime. In Santiago de Cuba, the community acted decisively to arrest the criminal and ensure his delivery to the authorities.
