The comedian Jorge Díaz is one of those who has chosen the Spanish capital to settle. From Madrid, the island’s comedian continues his career with performances in various spaces, showing off that mischief that launched him to popularity on Cuban stages.
At 60 years old, Díaz has shown on his social networks the performances he performs in various clubs and stages in Madrid. In them she sometimes shares with other artists from the island who also reside in that city or who visit it for some time.
Recently, for example, he has been seen with the Cuban musician David Álvarez, director of the group Juego de Manos, who also resides in the Spanish capital.
“Dos cubañoles al Tiro” was the show in which the artists shared with the public a mix of music and humor “in the manner of two Cubans living in Madrid.”
According to a source close to the comedian told the non-state media CubaNet, Díaz has been able to continue his work in Spain thanks to the recognition he has been given in this European nation.
“His work and his human quality have allowed him to strengthen communication with the public and the rest of the artists with whom he has performed in Madrid,” said the source.
In addition, he indicated that “with David Álvarez he has achieved an enviable chemistry”, since “they both share the same philosophy not only of humor, but of life and that is perceived.”
Jorge Díaz is remembered in Cuba for the authorship of his monologues, with which he has made the public laugh thanks also to his combination with music, something that has marked his live performances during his career and that has been collected on the album ‘ El familión’, published by the Bis Music label.
In addition, the artist has a body of work as a composer, which includes songs that have been performed by orchestras such as Los Van Van and Adalberto Álvarez y su Son.
The comedian has kept his followers updated in recent times not only about his presentations, but also about his meetings with other Cuban artists in Madrid. He has also shown his concern about the situation that Cuba is currently experiencing or some of the issues that are currently occupying Internet users on social networks.
For example, in a recent post on Facebook, Díaz shared his thoughts about how “mediocrity and ignorance have occupied a prominent place in everyday life, and with the existence of social networks they have been enhanced to great levels.”
Along with an image of Havana he wrote: “It is incredible to see the number of publications that are made exaggerating people with mental problems, erroneous social behavior, people who unfortunately live in Cuba where there is an inverted pyramid and sadly what is valued is the banal and “What is truly valuable is not given the importance it deserves.”
In this sense, he said that “that is the reason why someone shouting about a woman who cheated on him goes viral, a child talking like an older person in an antisocial way, young people promoting handsomeness, a man playing a piano badly and to whom He is called the prince of the piano and it is clear that he has problems. I think that protecting someone who is helpless is totally valid and providing them with material help in these times of such precariousness and scarcity is also valid, but please, it seems to me that there must be a limit between reality and utopia.”
