After having responded to a summons this Friday by the authorities, the Cuban government imposed home confinement until June 6 against the writer Jorge Fernández Era and made it known in a publication on his Facebook profile.
The Aguilera police station was detained for three hours, where he was charged with the “crime of disobedience in a case that will be heard by the Arroyo Naranjo Municipal Court,” he said in this post.
To the precautionary measure of prohibition to leave the country that was imposed three weeks ago, the regime added another “precautionary measure of home confinement”, which must be complied with from this Friday until June 6.
Let us remember that on April 4 Fernández Era was arrested and three days later a precautionary measure of “prohibition from leaving the country” was imposed on him.
His case has even involved his son, to whom he dedicated a post a few minutes ago: “In this minute, as I promised, I was sitting next to the Apostle in Central Park and for an hour as a peaceful protest against the blackmail and harassment to which my son is subjected for the mere fact of being his father. The home confinement to which the repressive organs of the Cuban State so crudely submit me prevents me from doing it in person, but not in my soul and thought. After my complaint on Tuesday (“Eduardito”), new elements have appeared that, far from providing guarantees for the physical and psychological integrity of Eduardo Luis, aggravate the situation to an extreme degree, ”he wrote at the beginning.
“First: the “casual” placement, on the same day of the aforementioned publication on my Facebook profile, of a key in the place where Eduardito officiated as a barber in the Toledo 2 Penitentiary Center. These are the hours when none of the managers of the Ministry of the Interior has contacted me to inform about an exhaustive investigation of the facts (see «Hierro»)”.
“Second: the smear campaign against me has been joined by my son’s mother and grandmother (see “Friends that one has” and comment by Malperza Mecías using the profile of Eduardo Luis Fernández Suárez),” he added.
“My thanks to those who are on the side of solidarity and repudiation of such vile acts. I once again call for the sanity, intelligence and dignity of the Cuban president and of those who, from power or from the organizations that are supposed to represent the people, become accomplices of infamy with their silence.”
“I call on good people from all over the world to support two Cuban citizens who, from their status as father and son, defend their right to speak, to denounce, to exist,” he concluded.
