After getting lost in a mountainous area of the town of Ejido Jacume, in the Mexican municipality of Tecate, in Baja California, while trying to reach the border with the United States, a Cuban migrant family of nine people was rescued by the authorities, after reporting its state of emergency.

The municipal director of Migrant Assistance of the XXIV Tijuana City Council, Enrique Lucero Vázquez, reported that, after receiving a call from this family of nine members, including four women and a minor, they were rescued.

Since last October, the first rescue of migrants was carried out, and there are already 31 people who have had to be helped, in coordination with the National Migration Institute (INM) of Mexico and the United States Border Patrol (USBP), reported this fountain.

All emergency calls, likewise, have occurred on said migratory route, by Mexican, Colombian and Cuban migrants, and have been attended to in their entirety thanks to the coordination between the agency that directs it, the INM and USBP, according to Lucero Vázquez.

A few days ago, another rescue by Mexican authorities of a family of Cuban migrants abandoned by traffickers in a desert area near the Mexicali border line, also in Baja California, emerged.

Let us remember that, in the last fiscal year, more than 200 thousand Cubans entered the United States through its land borders and requested political refuge. Most of these entered US territory through the southern border (Mexico), since the entry of only 490 Cubans was recorded through the northern border (Canada).

Although at the beginning of this year, the arrival of Cuban migrants to the border of Mexico and the United States decreased exponentially, after the implementation of the humanitarian parole program by the Biden administration, the accumulation of applications and the months of waiting in the process, led to the flow of Cubans skyrocketing, once again undertaking a long journey through Central America and Mexico, to finally reach the United States.
