Cuban President announces the resumption of face-to-face education

Cuba will resume face-to-face classes and the usual teaching periods of general education, the president of the nation assured todayMiguel Díaz-Canel, after participating in a meeting on preparations for the upcoming school year.

The new school period that starts in Septemberrectorate by the Ministry of Education (Mined), will be the first under normal conditions after the Covid-19 pandemic, the president stated on his Twitter account.

Díaz-Canel also recognized that the return to the classroom will take place in the midst of the difficult economic situation on the Caribbean island, for which reason “we are committed to continuing to advance in the quality of education.”

The head of state stated in his tweet that the next course will be extremely challengingtaking into account the current international scenario and the impact of Covid-19 on the educational teaching process, “which left us several lessons”.

He explained that the school is essential, along with the family and the university to ensure the future of the country; In this sense, he advocated for the necessary recognition of teacher workers in order to achieve greater effectiveness in their decisive formative contribution.

The president argued that a solid educational approach is required for children and young people “with a critical mentality in the face of the avalanche of cultural colonization that they want to impose on us in an increasingly complex world.”

Also present at the meeting held at the Palace of the Revolution were the member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Jorge Luis Broche, the deputy prime minister, Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella, and the head of the Mined, Naima Ariatne Trujillo.

The minister of the sector explained that school uniforms are ensured for all initial grades, with priority for primary education due to the characteristics of this cycle. During the last four-month period of the year, the new uniforms for continuing students will be completed.
