A 50-year-old Cuban, identified as Arnoldo Pérez Mirabal, was arrested on charges of committing 55 thefts at construction sites in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

It was on April 5 when local authorities put an end to the series of thefts that affected new constructions in the city.

The Chief of Police for that region of Florida, Richard Del Toro, detailed the Cuban’s modus operandi.

“Basically, he drove to our area and targeted new construction… Unfortunately, this brings many opportunities for criminals, since not being inhabited yet there is not much security”clarified the official.

It emerged that Pérez Mirabal is suspected of stealing electrical boxes valued at almost 60 thousand dollars, and the investigation intensified to the level of a major crime.

“They closed the entire area, they brought in crime scene investigators, who specialize in fingerprints and forensic studies”Del Toro added.

This meticulous investigation served to lead detectives to the capture of the alleged thief.

Port St. Lucie police sent a strong message to potential criminals, assuring them that they will not get away with this and that, sooner or later, they will end up in the custody of authorities.

“Message to criminals is don’t come here… in Port St. Lucie we do things differently… we take it very seriously”he asserted.
