Cucumbers, green pepper, potatoes are increasing in price, tomatoes are becoming cheaper

The trend of some basic foodstuffs, fruits and vegetables on the exchanges in the country continued with the upward price trend this week as well, reports the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT) in its weekly bulletin.

Greenhouse cucumbers rose in price by 8 percent to BGN 2.88 per kilogram, while tomatoes from open areas fell in price by 2.4 percent to BGN 1.64 per kilogram. The price of green pepper is up by 8.4 percent and it is traded at BGN 1.78 per kilogram, and that of red pepper – by 4.1 percent to BGN 1.90 per kilogram.

Potatoes are more expensive by 4.2 percent to BGN 1.12 per kilogram, and carrots by 1.4 percent and are traded at BGN 1.12 per kilogram. Ripe onions became cheaper by 6.6 percent to BGN 1.06 per kilogram, and cabbage by 0.5 percent to BGN 1.02 per kilogram.

The price of lemons is higher by 4.1 percent to BGN 3.53 per kilogram, as well as that of bananas – by 1 percent to BGN 2.73 per kilogram. Peaches and grapes are cheaper by 1.3 percent to BGN 2.06 and BGN 2.40 per kilogram, respectively. Watermelons rose in price by 0.8 percent to BGN 0.62 per kilogram.

The price of cow’s cheese jumped by 0.9 percent to BGN 11.27 per kilogram, and that of “Vitosha” cheese – by 0.7 percent to BGN 16.91 per kilogram.

Yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat content) became cheaper by 0.8 percent and it is bought at BGN 1.25 for a bucket of 400 grams, while fresh milk (3 percent fat content) increased in price by 1.3 percent to 2 .33 BGN per liter.

The price of chicken meat went up by 1.2 percent and became BGN 6.32 per kilogram, as well as that of eggs (size M) – by 0.8 percent to BGN 0.30 per piece wholesale.

Rice is cheaper by 0.7 percent to BGN 3.31 per kilogram, and lentils are more expensive by 0.5 percent and is respectively BGN 4.41 per kilogram. The price of ripe beans fell by 0.8 percent to BGN 4.34 per kilogram.

Sugar became cheaper by 4.9 percent and was traded at BGN 2.01 per kilogram. Oil increased in price by 0.5 percent to BGN 2.83 per liter, flour type 500 – by 5.1 percent to BGN 1.34 per kilogram, and cow butter (125 gram package) – by 0.5 percent up to BGN 2.77 per piece.

The market price index (CPI), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in our country, rose by 0.68 percent to 2.065 points during the week. Last week the ITC was at the level of 2,051 points. The base level of the ITC – 1,000 points – is from 2005.
