Cuiabá Targets Low Influenza Vaccination Rates with AgroFestival Outreach
During the event, municipal health teams are stationed at the city’s booth to provide vaccines aligned with the Programa Nacional de Imunizações (PNI) calendar. Attendees can update their vaccination booklets by presenting an official photo-identification document or a SUS card. Alongside the influenza vaccine, available doses include those for measles, mumps, and rubella (tríplice viral), hepatitis B, HPV, and Covid-19 for individuals over 12 years old.
Persistent Immunization Gaps and Disease Impact

- Children (6 months to under 6 years): 37.72% coverage, with 18,905 doses administered out of an estimated population of 50,121.
- Elderly (60 years and older): 40.13% coverage, with 39,354 doses administered out of an estimated population of 98,078.
- Pregnant Women: 61% coverage, with 4,143 doses administered.
Health officials report that the low participation leaves the most vulnerable populations exposed to severe illness and fatalities. Data from the municipality’s Boletim Epidemiológico de Vigilância dos Vírus Respiratórios covering January to July 2026 recorded 2,348 cases of Influenza A and B within the target population. Out of those totals, 957 cases affected children aged 0 to 6 years, and 172 cases occurred in adults aged 60 and older. The virus caused 14 deaths during the same seven-month period.
Broader Campaign Strategy and Extended Access
The AgroFestival presence forms part of the broader National Multivaccination Campaign taking place throughout August, which leads up to a mobilization “Dia D” scheduled for August 22 across all 72 Unidades de Saúde da Família (USFs) in the municipality. Officials note that the influenza vaccine remains restricted to defined priority groups—including young children, pregnant and postpartum women, the elderly, healthcare workers, teachers, security forces, and individuals with chronic conditions—and is not yet open to the general public.
To improve accessibility outside of festival grounds, the municipal health network maintains daily operations across all 72 USFs and provides extended evening hours until 19:00 at select facilities. According to the Prefeitura de Cuiabá, extended-hour locations include the USFs of Parque Cuiabá, Parque Atalaia, Coxipó I and II, Jardim Industriário, Jardim Fortaleza/Santa Laura, Dom Aquino, Pico do Amor, Jardim Imperial, Bela Vista/Carumbé, Terra Nova/Canjica, Eldorado, Areão, CPA III, CPA IV, Jardim Vitória I, Paiaguás, Sucuri, Ribeirão da Ponte, Despraiado, Novo Terceiro, Jardim Independência, and Nossa Senhora da Guia.
