On Wednesday night (6), Cuiabá and Athletico-PR faced each other at Arena Pantanal, in Cuiabá (MT). Dourado emerged victorious with a score of 3-0, with goals scored by Clayson and Derik Lacerda.
With this result, the Mato Grosso team ends its participation in this edition of the national tournament in 12th place, within the classification zone for the Copa Sudamericana. In total, they scored 51 points, with 14 wins, nine draws and 15 defeats.
On the other hand, Furacão will also compete in the South American Championship next season. Finishing in eighth place, with 56 points, their campaign featured 14 wins, 14 draws and ten defeats.
The season is now over for both teams, who will go on vacation before the start of the 2024 state championships.
Despite not having great ambitions in the competition, the home team prevailed. Playing in front of their fans, Cuiabá opened the scoring ten minutes into the first half, with Derik Lacerda suffering a penalty from Kaíque Rocha. From the kick, Clayson scored the first goal of the match.
Six minutes later, Clayson crossed for Derik Lacerda to head and extend the score. In the 27th minute, Isidro Pitta hit the post after receiving the ball and invading the area.
