With her chancellorship, a style era comes to an end!
Angela Merkel (67, CDU) had been in office and wearing a blazer since November 22, 2005. She has worn countless models – from signal red to midnight blue.
The outgoing Chancellor now revealed to the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” what will become of her colorful fashion stock: “They’ll be put in the used clothes collection. Regularly.”
What does your recycled wardrobe smell like? At most for delicate soap! The Chancellor hardly ever uses perfume, and even at close range, no note is imposing.

► TYPICAL: She prefers to wear collarless T-shirts with a three- or four-button blazer with short lapels or round neck collars (since 2007 in charge of tailoring by designer Bettina Schoenbach, from 1000 euros).
As a young minister, Angela Merkel tried her hand at blouses, and occasionally even dresses. It was not until she was Chancellor that she found her perfect “service uniform”: a blazer made of Italian fabrics, with dark trousers and always flat shoes.

If you see Merkel, you see the office – not the woman! Three-button blazers visually create a “stature” and make the figure appear boxy. Feminine curves, waist, cleavage – eliminated.
► DESIGN DETAIL: The blazers differ mainly in the type of pockets (number, with or without flap, straight or angled). Since the trousers often have no pockets, Merkel puts a handkerchief in the bottom of the left sleeve if necessary.
► COLOR MESSAGE: She likes to wear satin to the New Year’s address, heavy wool on serious occasions, tweed in winter and light cotton in summer. At larger peaks it is clear that Merkel will be surrounded by men in dark suits – she then chooses extra bright colors to stand out.

Out of service, the Chancellor quickly takes off her blazer – and slips into her favorite black cardigan.
After her work is done, her uniform also ends.
Merkel’s favorite accessories
World politics instead of style theater!
Angela Merkel’s look is fashionably pragmatic: no earrings, no rings, chains made of natural stone (regular goldsmith: Hans-Peter Weyrich)! Your favorite specimen is made of Baltic amber. Also very popular: aquamarines, black labradorite discs and rock crystals.
