The presentation and signing ceremony of this work, organized as part of the closing session of the cultural Khaima, was an opportunity to explore the universe of this book and to make it known through the reading of some of its passages.
Chaired by the vice-president of the Ribat Al Fath association, Mustapha El Jaouhari, this session was attended by the president of the Moroccan Coalition for Intellectual Property, Abdelhakim Qarmane, the professor and researcher of modern and contemporary history, Khadija Ben Bouselham and the researcher in Saharan heritage and history, Mohamed Jed, in addition to a group of cultural and literary figures.
The author of the book, also president of the Association of Territorial Integrity and Social Works in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, indicated that this 4th volume, considered as the temporal and spatial extension of the three previous ones, represents a civil plea on the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.
Mr. Houidag added, in a speech on this occasion, that the content of this literary work of 444 pages, includes a story of personal experiences, testimonies and impressions as well as interventions from several sensibilities, in addition to articles, media statements and local, national and international contributions to raise awareness of the issues of the Moroccan Sahara and its recent developments.
The vice-president of the Ribat Al Fath Association for Sustainable Development, Mustapha Jaouhari, noted for his part that the book “Memory, identity and homeland… memories of Dakhla” gives the question of territorial integrity its political, civilizational and development dimension.
The author of this work played the role of an observer intellectually and personally concerned by national issues, evoking the city of Dakhla as a bridge linking the South to the North and vice versa, in order to give importance not only to the national cause in its multiple dimensions, but also to highlight the socio-economic activities of this city, he stressed.
Mrs. Ben Bouselham, for her part, indicated during the presentation of the historical part of the work, that the writer pleaded in favor of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, while emphasizing the role of society and parallel diplomacy in refuting lies, as well as the efforts made for the defense of the national question.
She also stressed the need to digitize the author’s archive in order to make it available to younger generations.
The 5th Florilège Culturel Festival, organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, around the theme “The city of tomorrow: from the virtuous city to the smart city”, continues until December 25, with the holding of conferences and round tables, in the presence of thinkers, experts and specialists in order to explore the synergies between traditional morality and technological advances.
