“The Monte di Pietà, before being a form of relief, is a form of help to those in need to get out of the state of self-depreciation”, said the Professor Emeritus of Medieval History at the Institute of Human and Social Sciences of the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, Franco Cardini, on the sidelines of the conference entitled “I Monti di Pietà, birth and evolution of the oldest financial institution” organized by Affide and held at Palazzo Santacroce Petrignani in Rome.
