An indefinite curfew has been imposed across the country from 6 pm on Sunday (August 4).

This decision was announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday afternoon after massive clashes and loss of lives across the country during the non-cooperation movement called by the anti-discrimination student movement to demand the resignation of the government. The ministry’s senior information officer Sharif Mahmud Apu confirmed this information in a circular.

According to the notification, evening law and curfew have been enforced in all departmental headquarters, city corporation, municipality, industrial area, district headquarters and upazila headquarters, including Dhaka metropolis, from 6:00 p.m. until further notice.

In view of the protests and clashes surrounding the quota reform movement, a curfew was imposed across the country from 12 midnight last Friday (July 26). On the same day it was decided to deploy the armed forces to assist the civil administration. The army is still supporting the civil administration.

After this, the government relaxed the curfew step by step. However, an indefinite curfew has been imposed from this evening.
