Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that the curfew will continue till the people get relief. He said this while providing financial assistance to the families of the policemen and Ansar members killed in the quota movement in the meeting room of the ministry in the secretariat on Wednesday (July 24).
In response to a question, the Home Minister said, curfew will be lifted only when you say, we are feeling relief.
Addressing the relatives of the victims, the Home Minister said, you will never feel alone. You have the government and the country on your side. The government is ready for any assistance you may have. I will try to get you to meet the Prime Minister soon.
When asked how many students or general public died in the quota reform movement, he said, “We don’t have any account of how many people have died.” No case has been filed in any police station. Police are gathering information, will be told later.
The Home Minister said that the students’ quota movement had turned into a violent movement. All forces including our police, BGB, Ansar have faced this movement with patience. We have seen brutality in this movement.
He said, we will identify the criminals one by one. Curfew was imposed to deal with the situation. We have been able to control this militant rise and activities of terrorists. Expect everything to be under control in next 3 to 4 days.
The Home Minister also said that you know who has supported the movement from behind. It is the anti-independence force. Those who fueled Bangladesh to become a dysfunctional country, except the students, came forward themselves.
Stating that all the demands of the agitators have been accepted, the Home Minister said, we have seen that they attacked the police by targeting them. The policeman was killed and hanged on a tree. You have seen this picture. You have seen, the militancy that Bangla Bhai raised, this Jamaat-BNP has also done the same.
