Infrastructure and energy section: An analysis of customer satisfaction 2023 results in top values for urban space and waste management.

Every year, the Infrastructure & Energy division of Holding Graz randomly asks selected customers about their various offers. In 2023, an external opinion research institute surveyed a total of 915 people from Graz between the ages of 18 and 75 about the various services of the sector.

Graz remains clean: an overall grade of 2.0 as a long-standing constant

As in previous years, the citizens of Graz are very satisfied with the services provided by the “Urban Space” area. 76% of Graz residents are (very) satisfied with the services. With a school grade of 2.0, the “metropolitan area” can continue to maintain its overall good grade from previous years. Traffic areas, green spaces and playgrounds have the greatest impact on customer satisfaction with the urban space. Within these main drivers, the condition of the cycle tracks, the cleanliness of the parks and the equipment of the playgrounds are the points that those surveyed see that they can improve.

“I am happy that our performance was rated so well again this time. To ensure that the quality remains high in a growing city like Graz, we continuously invest in sustainable projects such as a new resource park. Digitization is also very important to us as our goal is to further improve the interaction with our customers.

Green spaces are more popular than ever

Observing how they are used proves that people in Graz value the condition and cleanliness of green spaces in particular. The use of green spaces has increased significantly compared to the previous year and has reached a new high level. 78 percent of those surveyed said they used parks, which is a significant increase compared to 2022 (70 percent) or 2020 (58 percent). If you look at the year 2015 (39 percent use), that means doubling.

Interesting: 9 out of 10 people in Graz who own a cooperative apartment or rent a house use the public parks. In general the rate of use is very high, except among home owners.

Increased use of children’s play areas

The use of Graz’s playgrounds has also increased slightly compared to the previous year. 37 percent (2022: 35 percent) of those surveyed said they used the playgrounds and gave the school a grade of 2.1 for the offer. Surprisingly, the more people in the family, the more often playgrounds are used – especially by people with children under 14 years of age.

The users were particularly satisfied with the maintenance of the playgrounds (grade: 2.0), care and number of facilities (grade: 2.2).

Without a functioning waste disposal or recycling centre, Graz would probably cling to the high heavens. Accordingly, the people of Graz know and value the waste management services. 8 out of 10 people from Graz know what waste management Holding Graz offers, 81 percent of those surveyed are very satisfied with the services and give a school grade of 1.9.

According to those surveyed, these positive results are due, on the one hand, to the friendliness of the employees in customer service and, on the other, to the professional information on all channels: 66 percent of Graz residents feel that they know a lot. topics related to waste disposal or waste separation.

Very pleased with the resource park

Opening again in the fall of 2022, the modern resource park is now used by 52% of those surveyed. 87 percent said the offers were “very good” or “good”. To further improve this high level, work should be done to improve clarity in the resource field.
