“Cut off Marks: Who Stands to Gain from the Outcome?”

by time news

The Tamil Nadu Group 4 written exam results for 7,301 vacancies are expected to be released on March 20 after the submission of the Tamil Nadu Budget. The cut off for the TNPSC Group Exams is decided based on various factors such as announced vacancies, question difficulty, and the number of experienced candidates. Earlier, TNPSC announced 7,301 vacancies; however, news last January indicated that the selection board planned to increase the number of Group 4 posts to 9,801 for recruitment. The TNPSC examination board has not announced any additional posts after addressing various issues in the release of Group 4 results.

The Group 4 written test consists of two parts, with 100 questions in the compulsory Tamil section in Part ‘A’, 75 questions in General Knowledge in Part ‘B’, and 25 questions in Mathematical Knowledge. Candidates who had prepared for the Group 4 exam in English subjects in the past may find the exam a bit difficult, whereas students who have studied in the Tamil medium may find it favorable.

This year’s Group 4 General Knowledge questions are said to be suitable for candidates in rural areas preparing specifically for the Group 4 examination only. Answering the questions correctly increases the likelihood of attending the consultation. The General Category cut-off is expected to be 175, the Backward Classes minimum is 170, the Most Backward Classes’ cut-off is 168, the Scheduled Class is 160, and for Tribes, it is 155.

The Group 4 written exam results for 7,301 vacancies are expected to be released tomorrow (March 20) any time after the submission of the Tamil Nadu Budget. As lakhs of candidates are ready for Group 4 exam results, here you can see what will be the cut off for the same.

Generally, the cut off marks for TNPSC Group Exams are decided based on various factors. The announced vacancies, the difficulty of the question and the number of experienced candidates are important in this.

Earlier, TNPSC announced that 7,301 vacancies will be filled in its recruitment notification. However, news leaked last January that TNPSC was planning to increase the number of Group 4 posts to 9,801 for recruitment. However, no steps seem to be taking place.

For example, in the clarification issued by TNPSC regarding the publication of results of Group IV examination last February 14 and March 9, the examination board did not make any announcement regarding the promotion of posts. The TNPSC examination board has been tight-lipped on the issue of additional posts after sorting out various problems in the release of Group 4 results.

Next, let’s talk about the difficulty of the exam. Group 4 written test consists of two parts. There were 100 questions in the compulsory Tamil section in Part ‘A’, 75 questions in General Knowledge in Part ‘B’ and 25 questions in Mathematical Knowledge.

In the earlier, Group 4 examinations, candidates were given an option to choose between Tamil (a) and English as compulsory language subjects. But this time only Tamil language was announced as qualifying and assessment test. Therefore, it is said that the TNPSC Group 4 exam may have been a bit difficult for the candidates who had prepared for the Group 4 exam in English subjects in the past. This is a favorable trend for students who have studied in the Tamil medium.

In Tamil Nadu, Junior and Masters candidates who are preparing for government exams are also preparing for Group 1 and IAS and IPS exams, so in Group 4 exams, they chose English subject more than Tamil. Accordingly, in earlier times only those who completed maximum higher education were successful in Group 4 examination.

For example, in the years 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, the number of undergraduates is 13,919 and the number of postgraduates is 4,903. At the same time, the number of students who have passed 10th standard is only 339. Therefore, candidates scoring 90 to 95 marks in Tamil subject are expected to rank well in overall marks list.

So, sources suggest that candidates who have prepared diligently and given more emphasis to the Group 4 exam may have answered at least 40-50 questions correctly.
