The rains of the last few days generated by various meteorological phenomena increased the level of the Cutzamala System which has already reached 36.8 percent of its level, reported the Technical Committee for the Operation of Hydraulic Works.

At the end of July, it was indicated that it was at 32.4 percent, but yesterday it already has 84.78 million cubic meters (Mm³) in the three reservoirs that comprise it: Valle de Bravo, The Forest y Villa Victoria.

This recovery, the agency stressed, is the result of management water implemented in the system and the rains typical of the season, added to those generated by various meteorological phenomena.

Specifically, storage at El Bosque Dam reached 43.2 percent of that observed on July 29, to 51.9 percent; Valle de Bravo rose from 30.4 percent to 32.6 percent, and Villa Victoria went from 25 percent to 29.4 percent, thus meeting the projections established in the management scheme implemented to address the effects of the drought.

In addition, the National Water Commission indicated that the filling level of the country’s 210 main dams rose in the last two weeks from 46 to 49 percent, thanks to various meteorological phenomena, such as tropical waves 14 and 15.

Of the total, 86 (40.9%) dams are below half of their storage capacity and 33 are already at their maximum, it was announced.
