In properties located in the corregimientos of Villamaría, Carbonero, El Tambor, Ochache, among others, in the municipality of Vijes, Individual Wastewater Treatment Systems, Sitar, are being built, solutions made for the proper management of domestic wastewater in the area. that, due to their efficiency, contribute to protecting the environment.
This is a CVC project that aims to build 808 sitars, in 30 rural communities of different municipalities during this 2023. The total goal that is expected to be reached at the end of the four-year period of the 2020-2023 Action Plan will be 5,000.
“I am very happy because thanks to this project, in which the CVC took me into account, I am going to contribute to caring for the environment. It is true that many times one does not measure the damage that is causing to the water or the soil with what it is generated from our homes, so I am very grateful to the CVC for bringing this project here,” said Katherine Muñoz, a beneficiary from the township of Carbonero.
In the specific case of Vijes, 46 sitars will be delivered on properties that must meet certain requirements, such as having at least 24 square meters for implementation and that the house is not located on a protected forest area, a road bench, a bank slope of the channel, in wetlands and areas of flooding or danger.
“With these systems, 80% of the water will be treated, of the 100% that were previously discharged totally contaminated, thanks to the filters they have. In this way, we are improving the sanitary conditions of many families that did not have this type of solution and The polluting load that falls into the rivers, as a result of the waste generated in rural homes, will be considerably reduced,” said Adriana Ramírez, coordinator of the Basin Management Unit – UGC, Yumbo-Arroyohondo-Mulaló-Vijes.
