An anonymous online entity known as Cyberleek has threatened to leak a complete, playable build of Grand Theft Auto 6 ahead of its scheduled November 19, 2026 release, tying the demand to a cryptocurrency market cap threshold or physical disc distribution.
Leaker Demands Apology and Disks to Stop Game Release
Following that material release, the account published an offer on its website stating that the full game build would go public if an associated memecoin reached a market capitalization of $30 million.
The ultimatum lays out specific terms for the publisher, demanding physical disks and a public apology as the alternative condition to stop the release. According to the published statement, the threatened release would contain the game’s entire story mode played through to the end credits. Since August, an individual or group operating under this handle has shared numerous gameplay clips, with the leak saga stretching back through multiple phases of footage dumps, legal actions, and community speculation across platforms like X and Reddit.

“Here’s the deal, nice and clean. CYBERLEEK hits 30 million marketcap, the build goes out—full story mode, played to the end, credits and all. Don’t believe it has full story mode? Ask for what you want to see, and it gets provided. Take-Two gets one way out: physical disks and a public apology. They can take it at any moment. Or they can gamble that CL is bluffing. Everyone knows which one they’ll pick.”

Prior to this latest escalation, the website associated with the leaker displayed a poll consisting entirely of question marks for every single option, heightening speculation before the full-build ultimatum was published on October 10. The wider context of the situation also connects to pre-release leaks being an industry-wide challenge, compounded by the massive financial scale riding on the launch of the open-world title.
Financial Motives and Unverified Claims Surround the Threat
Observers and gaming outlets have raised questions regarding the legitimacy and financial motivations behind the threats. The $30 million target sits above the token’s peak market cap of approximately $25 million recorded on August 23, while analysis indicates that the account previously cashed out over $250,000 by selling tokens in late August before going quiet.
Cryptocurrency valuations shift sharply, and reporting noted that the token’s market capitalization was roughly $3.8 million at the time of publication after reaching about $5.7 million earlier that day. Industry analysts and gaming reporters emphasize that offering to show requested scenes does not provide technical evidence verifying that a complete, playable retail-equivalent build is actually in the leaker’s possession, leaving open the possibility that the ultimatum is a bluff or an attempt to drive financial speculation.
Take-Two Legal Actions and the Precedent of Past Leaks
Parent company Take-Two Interactive has pursued legal avenues to identify those responsible for the leaks. On August 20, the publisher filed federal subpoenas against Microsoft and Discord seeking account data, followed by additional subpoenas targeting Google and X Corp. Specifically, the legal filings submitted to the District Court for the Southern District of New York sought identifying information for the Cyberleek account and related entities, though the true identity of the operator remains unknown.

Security researchers also warn that fake builds circulating online pose severe malware risks, advising users against downloading files claiming to be the complete game. With Grand Theft Auto 6 scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X on November 19, 2026, with an ESRB rating pending as likely Mature 17+, neither Rockstar Games nor Take-Two Interactive has issued a public response to the cryptocurrency-tied ultimatum.
