Cyberpunk 2077 investor lawsuit reaches $1.85 million settlement

by time news

While Cyberpunk 2077 was able to salvage its reputation in 2022, everyone remembers the absolute crash of the game’s 2020 release status. Things turned out to be so bad that investors in CD Projekt Red sued the developer.

The lawsuit was published in December 2020. Now, more than two years later, a judge has agreed to pay investors a $1.85 million settlement. Most shareholders who acquired shares before 2020 are eligible to receive settlement funds of approximately $0.50 per share.

The lawsuit relies largely on the fact that CD Projekt Red misled consumers about how the game would work on previous-generation consoles. PS4 and Xbox One struggled a lot with Cyberpunk 2077, but since review codes were only given out on PC, few people realized it.

Things are looking a lot better for Cyberpunk 2077 now, and after years of constant updates, it’s looking to release its first expansion to bring the game into a playable state. CD Projekt Red still has the opportunity to appeal the decision, but that opportunity will come later this year.
