Cyberpunk TCG: Record-Breaking Kickstarter & Everything You Need to Know

by priyanka.patel tech editor

The collectible card game (CCG) market is experiencing a surge in popularity, with new contenders challenging the dominance of established giants like Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon TCG. Following the success of Star Wars: Unlimited and Disney Lorcana, a new ambitious project has quickly become a frontrunner: the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game. The game launched on Kickstarter yesterday and has already shattered funding records, demonstrating strong demand for innovative tabletop experiences.

As of today, March 18, 2026, the Cyberpunk TCG campaign has raised over $7.5 million (approximately 160 million Czech Koruna) from nearly 9,000 backers, with 29 days remaining in the funding period, according to information from the Kickstarter page and reported by World Today Journal. This rapid success positions it as one of the fastest-funded projects in Kickstarter history.

A Gritty Universe Comes to Life in Card Form

Developed by CD Projekt Red in collaboration with WeirdCo, the Cyberpunk TCG aims to capture the aesthetic and complex narratives of the Cyberpunk universe, drawing appeal not only from fans of the Cyberpunk 2077 video game but similarly from those captivated by the critically acclaimed anime series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. This broad appeal could also attract players from the anime community, currently engaged with titles like One Piece TCG.

Gameplay is designed around strategic duels expected to last around 15 minutes, focusing on completing contracts and building reputation alongside traditional damage-dealing mechanics. Players construct decks of between 40 and 50 cards, with a maximum of three copies of any single card allowed. Deck building revolves around three chosen “Legends,” each possessing a unique ability.

Blending Strategy and Chance

During a turn, players can deploy units and equipment by spending resources, or activate one of their Legends, triggering its special effect. A unique element of gameplay involves rolling a die to determine the type of contract a player receives. Attacking an opponent without a block allows the attacker to steal a contract, bringing them closer to the winning condition of securing six contracts. A gameplay preview showcases this blend of dice and card mechanics.

The game also features a robust collectible aspect, with seven levels of card rarity, offering visually distinct and highly sought-after cards. Players can begin with a 43-card starter deck and expand their collection through booster packs, each containing 12 cards: 7 common, 3 uncommon, and 2 rare or better.

Investment Levels and Availability

Pledges on the Kickstarter campaign range in price, and content. Two starter decks are available for approximately $49 (1,050 Czech Koruna), while a display containing 36 booster packs costs around $64 (3,600 Czech Koruna). A combination of both, plus an additional display, is priced at approximately $130 (7,400 Czech Koruna). Higher pledge levels offer exclusive items like dice, metal cards, and playmats. According to Eurogamer, pledges have soared past £2.7 million.

Shipping costs range from $22 to $60 (200 to 530 Czech Koruna), and taxes will be added to the final price. Depending on the pledge level, some products may ship as early as the third quarter of 2026, with others expected to ship later in the year.

A New Contender in a Growing Market

The success of the Cyberpunk TCG Kickstarter campaign signals a continued appetite for new and innovative trading card games. The game’s connection to a popular video game and anime series provides a strong foundation, and its unique gameplay mechanics could attract a diverse player base. CD Projekt Red’s involvement, a studio known for its dedication to world-building and narrative depth, further enhances the game’s potential.

The campaign remains active on Kickstarter, and further updates on the game’s development and release will be shared by CD Projekt Red and WeirdCo. Players interested in following the project and securing their own Cyberpunk TCG products can visit the official Kickstarter page for more information.
