The campuses are already well stocked but the classes of new graduates each year fail to meet the needs of companies in both the private and public sectors. From SMEs to large groups and the army, everyone wants employees specializing in cybersecurity.

“Cyber ​​is an exciting profession,” immediately launches François Stephan, general director of the Central School of Electronics (ECE). Created in 1919, it now has campuses in Paris, Lyon (Rhône), Bordeaux (Gironde) and Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine).

“The cybersecurity plan launched in 2021 by the government and which results in a billion euros of investment should make it possible to increase the number of specialists from 35,000 to 70,000 in the coming years. Faced with constant attacks, the danger changes all the time. So it takes people to find all the solutions. Moreover, the army also recruits a lot from us. »

Immediate employability

If you want to enter this constantly changing world, BTS, Bachelor, Master or engineering diploma will open the doors to the world of work without any worries. When it comes to income, count on 30,000 to 35,000 euros in annual gross for a bac + 3 and 45,000 euros if you have a bac + 5. Attractive remuneration when you arrive on the market. Above all, you have immense employability…

“Our problem is not to fill our sectors, we could open even more promotions, but above all to meet the needs of companies by finding candidates in advance. Families often have reservations. We must break and deconstruct this image of professions reserved for an elite, for technicians who have given up on their personal existence and their student life,” explains with passion Walter Peretti, head of the campus of the Léonard School of Engineering. de Vinci (ESILV) in La Défense (Hauts-de-Seine).

Also important objective: the presence of women in cybersecurity, currently around 25% of the workforce. Fériel Bouakkaz, teacher-researcher at the French School of Electronics and Informatics (EFREI), who teaches in Bordeaux and Villejuif (Val-de-Marne), presents an exemplary career path.

Daughter of a baker and a stay-at-home mother in Algeria, she threw herself body and soul into this sector. “There are plenty of jobs. I would tell young people to clearly identify what they like and what they want to do, to contact professionals to discuss what their daily life will be like, she advises.
