The man nicknamed “the Eagle of Toledo” died at the age of 95. A renowned climber, Federico Bahamontes was the first Spanish cyclist to win the Grande Boucle in 1959. He had also won the mountain classification of the Tour six times.

He has accumulated ten Grand Tour stage victories in his career, including seven in the Tour de France alone. In addition to these successes, there are three stage victories at the Vuelta and one at the Giro.
