Rohan Dennis (Adelaide, Australia, 33 years old), two-time road cycling world champion in the time trial modality, has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife Melissa Dennis, also a cyclist and participant in the Olympic Games.
According to several Australian media reports, the former Jumbo cyclist, who retired this season, ran over his 32-year-old wife and mother of his two children, causing her a series of injuries that later caused her death in the hospital.
The first information suggests that Dennis was driving the vehicle, for which he was arrested and charged with “homicide by reckless driving and endangering human life.” Dennis was released on bail and is due to appear in court on March 13.
Dennis retired earlier this year after a 13-year career that included winning a silver medal in the team pursuit at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
