Kristians Belohvoszczyk has completed his U23 age group stage. Already this year, the Riga native must prove himself at the elite level, including fighting for a place in the Latvian national team to start in the World and European Championships. For the previous four seasons, the son and student of Raivja Belohvoszczyk, who won the title, represented the “Monaco” club team, competing in both UCI and national cycling races in Spain, Italy and France.
This year, as a member of the Latvian national team, Kristiāns won the second place in the overall standings of the Lithuanian Tour (UCI 2.2 category). He also had great success in the Spanish Cup, where Christian won a stage, and took second place in another one in the Madrid multi-day event, as well as finishing second in the “Trofeu Joan Escolà” one-day competition. Belohvoszczyk entered the TOP 10 times in ten competitions. In the Latvian U23 Championship, he won both the group and individual races.
Christian was looking for a career extension after the end of this season. This resulted in a signed contract for one season with the Italian cycling team “Monzon – Incolor – Gub”, which competes under the Romanian flag. This is a UCI continental level unit that competed in UCI category 1 and 2 competitions in Italy, Morocco, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey last year. The unit has changed its name after the entry of the Chinese bicycle manufacturer company “Incolor” among the sponsors.
Last year, the team included 16 cyclists from Hungary, Italy, Japan, Morocco, Romania and Turkey. Cooperation with only three drivers has been officially announced for this season. In addition to Christian, also the Finnish Sampo Malinen and the Italian Filippo Tagliani.
In the near future, the host of the “Riteņgalvas” podcast, Kārlis Ozols, will invite Kristianas to a wider conversation.
